Now the advent of the Information Age implies another revolution in the character of money. As cybercommerce begins, it will lead inevitably to cybermoney. This new form of money will reset the odds, reducing the capacity of the world's nation-states to determine who becomes a Sovereign Individual. A crucial part of this change will come about because of the effect of information technology in liberating the holders of wealth from expropriation through inflation. Soon, you will pay for almost any transac tion over the Net or World Wide Web at the same time you place it, using cybercash.
This new digital form of money is destined to play a pivotal role in cybercommerce. It will consist of encrypted sequences of multihundred-digit prime numbers. Unique, anonymous, and verifiable, this money will accom- modate the largest transactions. It will also be divisible into the tiniest fraction of value. It will be tradable at a keystroke in a multitrillion-dollar wholesale market without borders.
What’s equally mind-boggling, they also predicted woke hysteria almost to the letter.

Not surprising if you look into human history but yes.

It's like a Civilization game a lot of us played as games. You deploy resources into research — sometimes for a long time — to unlock new technologies. The new technologies then level up your entire civilization and, over time, your world map grows from wooden shacks, to road networks, to castles, to steam engines, to skyscrapers, to magnetic trains, etc...
Bitcoin wasn't invented randomly, it's the end stage of a multi-decade research process. The theory behind it, like you see described here in Sovereign Individual, was already known for decades. We just didn't have a way to make it practical until Nakamoto solved Byzantine Generals.
The first people to realize they could blow holes in walls using gunpowder didn't realize they were leveling up global civilization, they just said "Oh cool, I can blow up my enemy's castle now" 🧐

Good quote, I should pick up this book

That’s why I don’t get all the fear about government regulation, CBDC, etc around here. If you understand that technology doesn’t care, none of what government decides to do is going to matter…
Governments will be as irrelevant and powerless as the Church, following the printing press. An armored knight after gunpowder.
