Mine is nuclear fusion
ai-powered robots that can walk and use their hands... kind of like a personal robot assistant.
a lot of people are looking at software-based AI today, but i think most are ignoring the possibilities of what AI could do in a Boston Dynamics robot’s body.

I’m a bit concerned of what it could do 😅
reply
It could organize all my things!

Good to see you again @K00b. Fusion is a good answer probably that. Maybe a universal vaccine for all cancer etc. Maybe a super 3d printer that can print most anything including copies of itself. Quantum communication. But for the net benefit of the world from a utilitarian standpoint, fusion.

Likewise! @kr talks about your carless city post pretty regularly
re: fusion. Bitcoin helped me see energy as the most important input to human endeavor.

Next level AI upscaling of images.
Current AI upscaling is really bad at inventing details. Here is a post about how I feel about this technology being a dead end and unfortunately few people care. Here is a super super interesting video about how photos shape our memory (and by extension our society and culture). I can also recommend this one about how to use photos kind of like a journal.
I could write and talk for hours and hours about this.

Please do! Would love to see coherent thoughts on this topic and why it matters. I'd upvote it :)

Growing tissues and organs from cells; Whatever that's called. That way when an organ transplant is needed, it can be grown from the patient's body. Also, so I can get some chicken tenders without having to kill a chicken. There was even a time when I struggled to get rid of pests because I didn't want to kill them, but I got over that quickly.

+1000 for nuclear fusion. We’re so close.
Personalized medicine will also be huge and I hope to see it before I reach an age where it won’t be as helpful for me.

I am excited for Fusion. Not so much for the inevitable politics surrounding it from all the fossil fuel apologists.

Full body MRI/CT scan with AI analytics.
I know there is some highly expensive private clinics that offer something like this but the AI component, scalability and affordability still has a ways to go. I expect we will get there sometime in the not so distant future but I like the idea of a yearly check up just being a scan, AI analyzes the results and you get a full breakdown and actionable suggestions to review with doctor or flags for further analysis.

I welcome elaboration on the second item in your list. (Feel like I understand the other two, heh.)

One future technology that many people are eagerly waiting for is fully immersive virtual reality (VR). Imagine a device that can provide seamless, highly realistic, and interactive experiences, making virtual worlds feel almost indistinguishable from the real world. Such technology could have significant implications for gaming, education, training, and communication.

I mean if we're talking ANY technology...
  • Nanotechnology that can manipulate atoms at real time speeds (would enable Star Trek replicators, essentially endless life, abundance of any food or item)
  • Capability to harness the strong force
  • Mind uploading
  • Teleportation across any distance That'd probably do for a while. Lots of fun to be had with all that 😂

I know they have some of them in some places, but it's more of a novelty right now. There are still a few issues with them.

Would love a gpt3 (or the like) personal assistant. But with a fully realized data set/set of capabilities. All theoretically possible functions using exiting technology are actualized. I would do a lot with it.

The thing is, even with a coal fired powerplant electricity is dirt cheap. I mean its redicolous the amount of energy it can provide at little cost. Its only expensive because of the taxes that are put on top imo. And if not, its the costs to maintain the grid itself that is most of the price. So even if we get Nuclear Fusion electricity wont be much cheaper unless the grid becomes more decentralized? Ie. power generation on the spot, at home, on demand, and that taxes and so on go to 0 or near 0.
on topic: First thing that comes to mind is some sort of plasma propulsion engine because plasma is everywhere in space
