Can someone explain why Apple waged war over Damus' Zap feature while allowing SO many other apps that do very similar things?
How is it different than in-game "gold" or other game-specific currencies that users exchange with one another? I feel like Moons in Reddit are exactly the same thing as Zaps. They are ERC-20 tokens being passed around on Reddit to "tip" other user's posts.
Is this Apple acknowledging that Bitcoin is real value, and everything else is garbage? ERC-20 is as fake as WoW in game Gold, imo. But from Apple's perspective, how the hell can they justify this blatant hypocrisy?
Is there an assumption that users can purchase Moons or Gold or whatever and Apple gets a cut of that purchase?
reply
No. Apple gets no cut from those purchases. As far as I know.
I am not an expert on the subject, though. That's why I was hoping more in-the-know people comment on this.
