Most of the time it doesn't. Like 98%. You'll be met with suspicious eyes, or nervous thoughts about their own ack of financial understanding. Or they'll think it's a scam. Or illegal. Or weird. Or untrue.
Very few people are in the position to properly appreciate and comprehend Bitcoin.
So.
Why do people keep trying to GO FULL ORANGE PILL on people who aren't ready?
More Bitociners need to hear this IMO.
You need to meet ppl where they are. Slowly begin to drop breadcrumbs. And teach Bitcoin by teaching about other stuff. The building blocks.
If they like geopolitics or travelling... have them watch District 9 and then drop some tid bits in about South Africa's history. And then segway into the African nations adoption Bitcoin after rejecting colonial currencies. Let them discover it. Just provide some breadcrumbs to follow.
Or about inflation and the housing market if this is where is a person's interests lie.
Extrapolate this as needed.
Shoving an Orange Bill to someone who doesn't comprehend the basics of the money system or the history of finance usually doesn't do much good.
But putting on a Bob Marley, or Dylan record and tlaking about the Vietname war and such will get a person further.
If you lead a person to come to some conclusions on their own... you have helped create a Bitcoiner forever. Hastily oRaNgE PiLl someone and it might not stick.
Teaching Bitcoin for me, is not about teaching Bitcoin most of the time.

Most people don’t enjoy being lectured on anything. I think an effective orange-pilling strategy must be culture-based and passive in execution.
Totally agree 👍
I agree as well.
Physicals products too. If some product fashionable catches on that's connected to Bitcoin (you have to login with lnurl or something), people will learn VERY quickly.
Yes! Plus a monetary advantage and it'll help
Yeah, I don't get that either. People tend to orange pill themselves, given the right circumstances. All we need to do (or can do, really) is sort of "cultivate" those circumstances as best we can. To illustrate what I mean:
My own experience so far has been that people ask me about bitcoin first, without me ever mentioning bitcoin to them. At first, this wasn't intentional from my side, but we must have discussed related issues enough, that they end up guessing I might "know something about bitcoin" and ask me outright. I find this to be the best kind of orange-pilling - with near 100% conversion.
Of course this means it may take longer, but hasn't bitcoin taught us to have a low time preference?
Great reply. I agree. I think lack of social and personal awareness is the culprit.
Suddenly someone goes FULL PILL MODE and start recommending the Bitcoin Standard and all this nOiSe thinking someone just doesn't know it exists.
Maybe if keyboard warrior nerds actually established meaningful friendships and real rapport with family they’d have an easier time sharing information with them. That’s actually the hard truth of the matter
Ouch. True though maybe.
We’ll get there. Keep learning so when they do ask you are ready. Everyone gets sats at the price they deserve
Yeah mostly

The problem are the hodlers and the people using bitcoin as just investment, give me all the jobs available with bitcoin and i will show you the people that want to work for bitcoin, another problem is most jobs are tech jobs so how do you spect the masses to gain bitcoin.
Needed to hear that
Thanks. It's like... the information is coming from a place of care and intellect...
But it's landing on quicksand.
A better way to build a Bitcoiner is to develop a base of ideas and worldviews by beginning with the existing assumptions.

Whenever I mention to people that I work in the crypto industry I just get asked about NFTs lmao
Oh no
