What's everyone's take on this push for CTV? Seems a bit over-eager in my opinion? Why can't they just run it on a side chain like Liquid that no ones using lol and see how it works there

Want to ask this as a question to the board in a post? It’s be good to have a conversation about it now that it’s on most people’s radar

Sure, will repost, keen to get peoples responses

When did we get the "forward sats" option on new posts? Awesome feature!
reply
Last week sometime. We have plans to make it more powerful. @kr has this idea to be able to forward/split sats between multiple people and let them have a discussion/debate.

@k00b how you learn to code?
reply
i refused to code for 20 years of my life. hardware was my favourite. my excuse was somone can do it better why should i try? then i bought a arduino starter set. from that point i enjoyed coding very much.
reply
Programming being fun in enough reason to do it IMO. The cost to create something is so cheap relative to the value that can be created.

College! Looking to learn?

Been trying for two years. What languages do you know?
reply
Nice, how's the learning going? Have you been trying to self teach or taking courses?
I've done substantial work in these languages: C/C++/golang/javascript/lisp/ruby/obj-c but mostly program in javascript these days.
reply
I took a JavaScript course then trying to self teach python. I also took the CS50 course offered by Harvard but found it too complex for the free time I actually have. So it’s a slow journey

I recommend taking a community college class if you have a CC near by. Online classes are fine, but there's value to class environments that extend beyond the material taught.
reply
That’s a great idea! Will look into that thanks.

Really want to recommend using https://www.notion.so here to organize your work when you have a lot of research, reading or writing to do.
I'm doing a lot of research now on Bitcoin and Mythology as I want to write an article. Though the resources and notes I'm using was too much to handle. This app is really amazing.
I know this sounds like a corny advertisement, but I'm really blown away by the clarity and productivity gain I got from it. This book read girl youtuber has a great tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bxpsvcW2mc
I found this because I was actually looking to buy my mom a book, so I started watching these girls read book channels. Telling ya, they know how to organize!

Which features from Notion do you use the most?
I recently fully switched to Obsidian and it's been really great.
  • I appreciate that the data is in standard readable format (markdown), so I can switch to another tool any time I want (or put it on github, etc)
  • I got this to sync across my phone and laptops in a fully e2ee private way (using syncthing - another recommendation)
  • It has some great extensions (tables, mind maps, etc) and it's super customizable. From what I can tell you could re-create Notion in it if you would want.
I was also wondering if there would be appetite for a tutorial for how to set up Obsidian with Syncthing and put it here on SN?

Interesting. For the moment I get all what I need from Notion, and I like the simplicity and look. And don't want to overcomplicate it. However I can imagine I might need this when I'm gonna need more functionality. And need to program up stuff. Also that goto function looks handy. Thanks for the suggestion.

@jp I’ve overhauled the airdrop notification. You’ll only see one in your notifications at a time. It will still notify you about it daily. If it’s still too much you can now go to settings and turn it off.
