Hey, remodeling some things in an organization that helps keep the books in order in rural communities, and obviously ... we want this software to:
  • consider BTC as a currency (so expenses/buys in BTC)
  • ideally be a FOSS product
What you guys are using? What do you suggest?
Thanks
This is another interesting one. I think it run on umbrel too: rotki.com

I don't understand the need of "accounting for your bitcoins". Bitcoin is money. That's it. You do not need to keep accounting for them. Why people complicate things more than is needed?
reply
it's just a way to see the blockchain data relative to SMB transaction in a digestible way and without the need to be an engineer to understand the internal money flows. if there was no need those products mentioned above, have then no reason to exists.

You mean coin control?
reply
Control? just the ability to easily understand expenses and profits. You know, that stuff that humans do time to time
reply
OK, but that thing you are not doing over your bitcoins, you are doing it in your regular existing accounting system. You do not need a special one for bitcoins. A decent accounting management software should be already prepared to switch the currency to bitcoin from any other fiat currency, if you want to see your results in btc and not in fiat. Is absolutely the same.

well, we do not have one, that's why we are doing some research to keep the books update and transparent.
So which accounting software for you is decent?

2 options in my mind:
BTCPay Server You build your own free server to receive Bitcoin and Lightning payments. You are in control 100% of your data: https://btcpayserver.org/
OpenNode Easy to use third-party Bitcoin and Lightning payment system. You pay only 1% fee. You can connect this account to your bank account (receive in fiat money) or transfer the BTC paymento to another Bitcoin wallet. https://www.opennode.com/

That's great. Thank you very much

https://bitcoin-reports.com/ I think it is also open source. So you could download it, check the code and run it on your own server.

Just noticed that btccuracao.com use Coinos.io on their site/social

Accounting? Nice try, IRS, my node accounts for the present value of my UTXOs based on every "credit" and "debit" with extreme levels of decentralized redundancy!
