Happy Saturday everyone.
Was reading through some comments on my older AI post and it got me thinking.
Curious to know what you all think the most important jobs will be for us down the road? As AI comes in to take over the “busy work."
How will human productivity shift in general?
Engineers
Preschool, Primary, Secondary and Special Education School Teachers
Food Preparation and Hospitality Trades
Animal Care and Service Workers
Sports and Fitness Occupations
Lawyers, Judges and related workers
Natural and Social Science Professionals
Teaching and Education Professionals
Managers and Proprietors in Hospitality and Leisure Services
Personal Appearance Workers
Health and Social Services Managers and Directors
Counsellors, Social Workers, and other community and social service specialists
Therapy professionals
Librarians, curators and archivists
Artistic, literary and media occupations
Public Services and other associate professionals
Entertainers and Performers, and related workers

If I had to guess 95% of this will get robotted

@wefofficial says writers and I can't disagree.
reply
At least the WEF and I can agree on something

Prostitution, sorry to say... Though I have decided that artists have shaved the world, so Art will definitely be the most important... take bitcoin, per say, though for many its a store of value and for others it is THE digital currency of the new era, none of this would have been possible if it wast for Art. The world belongs to the artists. No matter how much artificial intelligence we will ever develop, there will always be needed that pleasure of having a human face and master mind behind the context...

As Martin Luther King said: "If a man is called to be a STREET SWEEPER, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all hosts of heaven and earth pause to say; Here lives a great sweeper who did his job well!" This is the job of future, forever!

Those will be the most important jobs. They have always been and will be crucial for teaching you how to be human.
reply
There will always be demand for prostitutes.
reply
You mean those digital prostitutes in VR? Those digital programmed agents that can turn into anything you want and taking you to whatever scene you want instantly? Those digital real realistic pros that you can’t distinguish from a real woman and you can pay with lightning per second while the scene runs?
You mean those that give you all your sensations in your haptic tshirt?
reply
Don't think VR will completely replace physical meatspace sex anytime soon.
reply
yes but im sure the robots will have their own weird target market too o.0
reply
Shitposting will become a very important job!

Anything that requires you to be right next to the other person.
For example,
  • Bartenders. They've tried long time ago to make a robot making the drinks, but people never really liked it. They want the human connection with the bartender, not just the drink.
  • Psychologists, astrologers, etc. Anything related to talking about the other person's life. It can be based on science or not. It doesn't matter.
  • Etc... You can see the trend

Curious to know how many of you know the definition of "human being" or "human" :)
reply
off the top of my head i think of human being as the self but human is more like a trait
for the question i was wondering about jobs that humans would keep, but thinking of it as the latter works too i guess
reply
Plumber, electrician, painter decorator

Knowing how to buying and sell goods wholesale around the world, knowing how to get around (or blend) all the NEW and INCREASING duties, tariffs, taxes, rules and with which currencies allowed I'm optimistic but, 100% afraid of governments worldwide. Im in export sales management now and it's tough, with the WEF and other controlling groups that will manifest into more restrictions. Let alone when the USA restricts BTC.

payment through deflation, not ubi

My guess is it will still be trades like electricians & plumbers. Unless Apple start building robots
reply
apple's gonna swallow the world if we let it

Let's see with their new release how many they sell. Getting pretty expensive now without any improvements. They aren't getting anymore money from me though

Likely a whole swath of jobs we cannot now even imagine. There are jobs that exist because of the internet that we couldn't have even imagined 30 years ago. Who knows what opportunities AI will create?
Generally I think that AI will not lead to a decrease in the number of jobs and won't ever really reach the heights people hope or fear it will. I may be wrong though

Everything that can be digitized will be done by AI. Information jobs, accountants, researchers, programmers, teachers, writing books, coaches, film making. Maybe even politicians. An AI can put a proposal out and send it to 500 million people and the people send back their text about what they think and the AI can summarize this, take a decision based on the 500 million answers in just 1 hour. Politicians can’t do this.
The market cap of AI companies will grow and the market cap of those other industries will be sucked away.
Just like the internet sucked away other industries. Like whatsapp sucked away the market cap of the global telcos who delivered international calls.
Banks will also be sucked away. So our fiat money will be created by AI. If you need a mortgage an AI can decide on your application by looking at the house, checking its value compared to others.
Inequality will be massive. If the wealth transfer from all those sectors to the AI sector is not taxed and transfered to the people.
Prices will be lower. The productivity will be sky high through AI. Foodsystems will also be improved. There will be plenty food for all. All systems will become more efficient.
The concept of labour will disappear. Capital - AI - will replace labour everywhere it can.
The things that cannot be made, like Bitcoins, will be scarce. Land will be scarce.
In VR all these scarce things will be abundant.
There will be a cry for taxes on AI companies. Jobs will be lost.
People will have time to spend time with their kids, do what they like.
When you meet a human in real life you will enjoy her/his company. Because that will be special.
reply
That's true that we're working less. However, do consider that individual workers are on average also becoming more productive. In addition, that is data on hours each person works, not on the number of actual jobs, professions, or ways of providing for oneself that exist

Farmers
reply
doubtful imo for mass scale production
but ideally i see a world that makes it easier for people to support/sustainably farm themselves if they wish to
reply
Yes, I didn't say old-fashioned farmers.
As the fiat world starts collapsing and Bill Gates is hanged in a public square, those lands will return to small ranchers that will use advanced self-sovereign tech to produce high quality local food.
reply
Farming will use robots and sensors more and more, but, obviously somebody needs to plan it and service devices.

reply
imo demand for therapy is gonna collapse over time, not go away, but much less prominent
reply
Responsibility.
Sure, in the end robotics, automation and software are always better at double checking or compliance with processes, bureaucracy etc. but a large part why a lot of these bureaucracy jobs exist is not only because someone has to verify processes - but also somebody has to be responsible for the process.
reply
Due to the massive African immigration, at least in Europe, the demand for security personnel is growing exponentially. So, private security staff will be increasingly sought after.
reply
The AIs are a joke, and extremely expensive to run. Sooner or later the lack of economic foundations to the tech will be clear. But let's entertain them for the time being and tell them their very fancy new clothes are not invisible.
reply
AI’s a fad you’re saying?
reply
Yep, just like shitcoins. All facade, no substance. I doubt that all the computer hardware in the world all working together at once could get close to a believable humanoid consciousness.
Anything that comes out of it is going to turn out to be fatally dangerous to depend on.
reply
Lol interesting take
reply
In case of full blown AGI there wont be any jobs.
reply
There will still be work to do tho!
reply
Just not for humans
reply
People will still want genuine human experience. It's better to have a real bartender vs a robot.
reply
Everything/everyone could be faked by AI advanced enough
reply
which is why markets will demand for real human experiences
reply
Imagine best conversation or sex you ever had and AI will be able to make it 10x better. For most people i believe it will become disgusting to meet other people. Future i hope for is we’ll merge with it to stay relevant.

Biblical counseling. Since the sin entered this world with Adam and Eve disobeying to God, we have a rebellious heart that needs repentance. If AI could take the Bible as the source of all truth, it will be a big step for all humanity.
