Anyone else noticing long open channels being closed with smaller pleb nodes? Over the past week I've had several channel closes by my peers. Did some investigating and it looks like these nodes are closing smaller channels with pleb nodes. I'm not complaining, I get it. Curious if others have noticed this.
What is funny is that I've also been getting inbound channels from other plebs lately. Kinda interesting.
it means the network is maturing, people are starting to deploy capital more efficiently. Small chans dont route (much)
you can see the number of nodes and channels in the network falling yet the capacity still grows. Having tiny chans that don't do anything is a complete waste of resources from node operations point of view, closing them in low fee env and redeploying that capital to new chans or taking it back to cold storage it the way to go. Btc at risk is a btc that needs to be productive, otherwise you just lowered your stash safety with nothing in return, potentially just risking a bad force close with a shitty peer

Yep, that makes sense to me.

I guess they are freeing up capital & treating it more like a business

Well yeah. I wouldn't say they weren't running it like a business before. When I started my node things were different. As lightning usage increases I guess we will see more of this.
