Good morning stackers,

This week I'm looking to hear about your favourite songs with a feature.

I'm talking songs where artists have had guests sing with them either live or in studio.

Eg. Queen - Under Pressure ft. David Bowie.

The one I wanted to submit to everyone for your listening pleasure is:

Within temptation - Somewhere ft Anneke Van Giersbergen.

Two beautiful voices twisting in and out between each other in wonderful harmonies. It's an absolute pleasure to listen to.

Shill me your artists collaborating with each other to bring you great sound!

Paul Simon and George Harrison

5k tip. Someone really liked that song. Can't go wrong with Paul Simon or George Harrison.

Wait... Am I the value? Thats the nicest thing anyone's ever said about me. Even my wife when asked just says "he's alright"😂

Their posts just get zero engagement and no sats. They'll never go away but the community can bury them under good content.

And of course, a playlist like this can't be complete without this one:

Elton John and Billy Joel - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Fantastic choice.

What a gem. That really was a fantastic collaboration.

Keith Richards & Norah Jones ~ Love Hurts, live 2004 HQ:

Keith started off rough there. But did warm up into it. Nazareth was the original wasn't it? Norah always sounds brilliant. It's an odd combo but still very nice.

reply

Norah Jones combos are always good

There are quite a few collaborations I can think of when considering this question. I would like to start with a recent one, Gorillaz (Damon Albarn) and drum master, Tony Allen in the song How far. James Blake and Rosalía singing Barefoot in the park. The well known band from the late 90s and the begging of this century made an entire collaborations album called To All New Arrivals, which is worth mentioning. Last but not least, Poliça and Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) collaborated for the song Tiff as part of the Deluxe Version of Shulamith

Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris - If This Is Goodbye:

Had never heard this. Good tune.

Mark always needs to get his smooth guitar licks a little too loud in the mix. He must drive sound engineers nuts. How are you gonna say no to Mark Knopfler.

Although more up tempo and guitar driven, this song reminds me of "You don't bring me Flowers" by Barbara Streisand and Neil Diamond.

reply

Now that's a song I haven't heard in a while, thanks!

Which leads as to another great collaboration:

Barbra Streisand, Céline Dion - Tell Him

She hangs onto the notes so beautifully makes you hang onto every word. That was gorgeous. Reading the story behind the meaning to this track aswell. Wow, that was great. Thanks for your recommendation.

Deftones ft Maynard James - Passenger

reply

Long old while since I heard a deftones track. That's a throwback.

reply

They're still putting out music...and beer. Their 2016 cd had a track ft. Jerry Cantrell.

reply

Ah just like Iron Maiden, still producing music and beer. 😂

reply

Gonna throw you a curveball here. It's a collab and a cover.

Don Henley and Vince Gill singing Sacrifice by Elton John.

I am not a huge country music fan so was never really into Vince Gill but he is awesome with the Eagles.

reply

Ooooo you know I'm a sucker for a cover.

Didn't disappoint. That was really good, I didn't doubt Henley or Gill but I was a little dubious I'd be able to hear anything but Elton John. I also loved the little solo at 3:23 nice little touch. I don't remember there being a guitar solo in Elton John's version.

I can't avoid thinking about the Jonny Cash version, despite is not a collaboration

reply

Even Trent loved Cash's version. What a compliment to have someone like cash want to sing your song.

Always going to feel strange someone singing your words because you associate them with your feelings but it's clear that cash had his own things he was using those words to portray. Like you said, took a while but eventually Trent appreciated it I think.

Fair comment. Trent definitely had a vision for that song and cash challenges that vision for sure.

It did if I remember correctly

Wicked. NIN and Bowie was fantastic. Artists I'd never have put together but they sounded great together.

Gorillaz - how far, was good. I enjoyed it. James Blakes voice fits really nicely with Rosalia, she's got a lovely voice. I'll slowly get through "to all new arrivals" Policia and Justin Vernon - Tiff really took me by surprise, super chill but with some seriously deep and kinda messy lyrics, almost haunting.

reply

I am glad to see you've taken the time to explore the suggestions I made to enrich your list

reply

Ofcourse. That's the whole purpose of this thread is to discuss music with people and share tracks with each other. I hope you e found something in here that you enjoyed aswell.

reply

I did find great new things. For instance, I had no idea of U2 and Cohen working together for Tower of Song

reply

I really enjoyed that one too. I may not be Bono's greatest fan but I can appreciate talent when I hear it.

reply

Wicked list. Speaking of whole albums of colabs, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention collision course - linkin park and jay z. Brilliant fusion of two genres.

Also one of my favourites Carlos Santana - guitar heaven album (2010) was excellent.

reply

It was indeed.
