this country has a pleasant spring-like climate in most cities: it is breathtakingly beautiful with high mountains, canyons, ridges, pyramids, lakes, vulcanoes and much more. the food is delicious, similar as mexican food, some dishes are thousands of years old. guatemala has a lot of culture.
antigua is a city which looks like a museum. it is one of the prettiest antique cities in the world. antigua means old, antique. most buildings are older than the usa or canada. cobblestone streets, many trees, antigua could be as well in spain. it attracts a huge number of tourists every year. there are two companies in guatemala promoting bitcoin in all of latin america: ibex and osmo.
ibex has recently landed a deal with one of the largest oligopolies in mexico. in antigua there are already many companies accepting bitcoin.
lake atitlan is one of the prettiest lakes in the world. georgeos. incredible. it also attracts a large number of tourists every year. lake atitlan is the center of bitcoin action in guatemala:
you may have hard about the guy who mines bitcoin at lake atitlan using old cooking oil which he gets from the restaurants nearby for free. even the mayor of panajachel, a city of 20.000 is mining bitcoin:
lake atitlan has a thriving bitcoin community. lago bitcoin tries to replicate bitcoin beach in el zonte.
but what about the crime? you will ask... it is only a problem in some areas in guatemala ciudad. most other places like antigua, lake atitlan, coban are safer than any city in the usa or in canada. unlike usa or canada the country feels very relaxed, it feels free.
natural ressources, climate and the political stability make guatemala a good country, better than most countries in central america ( i know panama, costa rica, nicaragua and el salvador from living there and many trips in 20 years).
here is a video of bitcoiners reporting from guatemala bitcoin adoption eight months ago: https://youtu.be/gS98OWt2ji4?si=5UDSgTIyW57gF3Ay
i travelled to guatemala twice this year and i felt that bitcoin adoption was increasing and it was accepted happily more often than in el salvador.
Guatemala is a shithole
the people have one of the lowest i.q's in the world and are not taken to abstract thought
