Interesting -- this is probably one of those things that's way more important than it seems. Public companies have so much pressure not to show things that look like losses, and do an ungodly amount of bullshit behind-the-scenes (and yet legal) gymnastics to give the appearance that things are great, even when they're not.
This could really matter.

I wonder about the timing. Did the wave of upcoming ETFs encourage FASB to change their position.
