Twice a year, there are large swells in the Atlantic ocean that actually push water up the Amazon river for as far as 500 miles. These swells create the longest wave in the world and is commonly known as Pororoca which means "great roar" in the local language.
Some surfers chasing a rush and even the world record for longest wave surfed ride the swell as long as possible up the Amazon.
