I worked graveyard waiting tables for about a year and a half. The way it worked for me was to go to bed as soon as I got home. Black out the room or wear an eye mask—the 2 strap Alaska Bear is what I use today: https://www.amazon.com/ALASKA-Natural-Blindfold-Super-Smooth-Straps (No referral link BS). Focusing on getting a good day of sleep is going to be the best way to help keep you awake longer. Caffeine can be a double edged sword too because of the 12 hour half life—you’ll get a buzz, it’ll wear off but then it will act against you when you try to get to sleep.
Granted, my experience working nights was walking/running around waiting tables—and it’s pretty easy to stay awake when you are actively moving. So that may be a good technique too if your night work is with computers or stationary, try to get up and move around regularly.
The sleep mask idea has helped a lot

I generally try to limit my caffeine intake for that exact reason.
Mask may not be a bad idea, will have to give it a shot.
