If you get hit by a bus today, what will happen to your stack?
Will you family be able to easily take control of your stack?
Particularly interested in how you guys with more complicated setups (multisig, tails on a USB, etc) are planning for this.
Also, for those of you running a lightning node, what's your plan for your node?
It's good to make sure that a couple people you deeply trust (a spouse, and child, a parent, etc.) have access to your keys. That way when you kick the bucket then they can use the coins.
Of course, if your family and friends don't understand Bitcoin that makes things a little difficult.
The Bitcoin Dad Pod has a fantastic episode that covers all of the difficulties and nuance of having an estate plan for Bitcoin. Solutions are a little weird right now but people are building some legal and technical frameworks for it.

It will probably be a donation to all hodlers.

Bitcoin is energy, from its inception (mining) until … forever (Laura, is forever, Laura). Even if you lose the keys to your bitcoins and/or you die and do not pass the keys to love ones, your bitcoins are still very powerful and keep storing that energy until the end of times.
And what is even more powerful: even after your death, NOBODY can take your bitcoins. Just think about that for a moment…
Bitcoin is The Force of all living creatures and humans are the ones capable to manage it and use it.
Ignoring Bitcoin is like ignoring life, ignoring your future YOU.
Don’t waste your time of today (with shitcoins and meaningless things), start storing your energy needed in the future into your bitcoin, HODLing them as much as you can and spend them wisely on things that really matter in your life.
If my family members is not capable to obtain the bitcoins from me directly when I am still alive, then they will come with me... FOREVER. That means they weren't deserve them.
I store keys in many different places, in many different wallets as I explained min many of my guides. Here is an important one: https://darthcoin.substack.com/p/bitcoin-be-your-own-bank-think-like

When this headline first appeared shortly after the plain crash, it was pure speculation.

What about a video recording like a tutorial with all the steps to follow to access the stack? I'm thinking the video could be encrypted in a usb stick with a pass phrase you could get from the testament. The attorney would not know what the pass phrase is for.
Also... Don't forget to tell them how much you loved them in the video too. :(

not a bad idea, video will type of thing

I tried to orange pill my family but it didn't work out. So instead I made sure that they at least know that I have bitcoin and how to retrieve it in case I'm gone. They know how seeds and wallets work and where my cold storage seed is located.
So what will happen if I'm gone? They will probably sell my bitcoins. I can't change that, at least for now.

While I hope to live a long and healthy life I have taken care of my inheritance through Nunchuk Honeybadger: https://nunchuk.io/inheritance
The beneficiaries are informed and with the assistance of Nunchuk will be able to get my stack.
For me it makes sense spending some money on this to ensure my stack can be put to good use.

Hopefully my family will be able to recover it. There are at least 2 people I think I can count on for that. If not, then you guys just get a donation.

Through careful CRISPR application, I successfully encoded my private key into to the sperm that was later used to fertilize my poor wife (as she likes to be called). The genetic location is such that it will directly cause itself to be dominantly transcribed and sustained, eventually into my childs reproductive systems, and it will also give us all extremely large ears, which may be useful for hearing about bitcoin.

I'm writing up a guide for a basic, easy to setup, baselayer bitcoin inheritance plan. There will be a few tradeoffs upon your death, but it should work and your bitcoin won't be lost and will actually reach your heirs.
I call it a baselayer because it should be just your backup plan to avoid catastrophic loss upon death, while you figure out an even better plan. Or the community/technology in general improves.
Fwiw I'm an experienced New York executor and probate attorney.

Lol nope, good luck to anyone who can figure out how to recover it, and more power to them, my stack goes with me right now, its up to others to change my mind before I die

Unfortunately I lost it all
