I always had conflicting emotions with "helping people", not that I don't think it's a good initiative, but because helping is not simple at all, many times you could make things worse, I have some experience with it.

There is already something going on to do crowdfunding, you should check Tallycoin and Geyserfund they're both doing a good job. The only problem I see with both is that you can hardly check if sats are going where they're supposed to. I see you have experience with all that, you could give them a hand.
