Part of me really wants one to play around with and do some Bitcoin things with it but part of me knows I'll never touch it and learn :( has there been any applications or devs out there that have done anything with these precursors yet? The lack of camera, SD card slot, or NFC makes me feel like it wouldn't be possible to do any Bitcoin things on them.
Perhaps camera, NFC, and SD card will be added later. It does do a BIP39 encrypted backup of the full database to a USB drive, so presumably someone can hack their own USB/SD-card/NFC-reader/camera support, but then those changes to the OS, if distributed, are no longer provably verified and signed.
My thoughts are that it's more for banking & exchange type scenarios? I haven't heard of anyone using one yet.
The principle of evidence-based trust was at work in our decision to implement Precursor’s brain as an SoC on an FPGA, which means you can compile your CPU from design source and verify for yourself that Precursor contains no hidden instructions or other backdoors.
Spy agencies could start using these.
