The color orange was actually named after oranges. https://imgprxy.stacker.news/fod_5gxAa0A2lBwvwb4yOOSaz7LRDx02w2fJeWgFIfs/rs:fit:600:500:0/g:no/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cudGhlZmFjdHNpdGUuY29tL3dwLWNvbnRlbnQvdXBsb2Fkcy8yMDExLzA3L29yYW5nZS1jb2xvci1sYW5ndWFnZS53ZWJw Before oranges arrived in England in the late 15th century, there was no word for the color.

It was referred to as ġeolucrog (yellow-saffron), or ġeolurēad (yellow-red) depending on the shade.
