It was before everyone on the plane read the same body language book, watched Shark Tank, and saw the same stupid celeb stock photos. Now it's like a Dunning-Kruger thing (illusory superiority of lower cognitive persons). Actually, maybe it was always like that even before it scaled via copycats. When you see people do this, remember Mallardshead, and see through them. If you're one of the actors that do this micro-aggresion, then you know you can't trust anyone that does.
