Yes. It's good to give a no-coiner $1000 in bitcoin as an introduction to the concept, but how many will simply cash out without understanding the value of what they've been gifted. I gave 0.1 BTC to a couple (very good friends of mine) as a wedding gift, around 2 years ago. I know that they have not cashed that out as I explained to them, in years to come, that could go a very long way towards their retirement funds. It's only now, some 2 years later, that they're even beginning to understand what the potential of that gift could be.
