Feinstein has passed away. Her political career parallels that of Biden, serving as a figurehead for forces operating behind the scenes. Despite a career solely in public service, including roles as a regulator, mayor of San Francisco, and U.S. Senator, her net worth as of 2018 was $87 million.
She exemplifies the Cantillon effect, where those closest to money creation benefit the most. Her long tenure in power likely stems from a desire to perpetuate this financial advantage. The wealth she amassed didn't just come from U.S. taxpayers; it also impacted some of the world's poorest and most vulnerable individuals. The expansive reach of the U.S. dollar has global consequences.
While mainstream media may portray her as a saintly figure, it's essential to scrutinize her actions, which should be described as thievery and fraud.
She is what is a symbol of what's wrong with the system, why fiat money makes everything so political and why undeserving people like her get to rent-seek and make tons of money at everyone else's expense.
Thankfully, there's a way out, and that's Bitcoin. Only by taking away the power of money printing can these thieving oligarchs be stopped.
i don't care what your personal politics are, i think we can all agree we shouldn't have 90 year old senators passing away while still in office. we are increasingly a country governed by geriatrics, and it should be no surprise these people don't have a good grasp of current technologies.
as far as millionaire senators go, it would be much quicker to count those that aren't than those that are. don't get me wrong, it's still disgusting, but it's also pretty much par for the course, on both sides of the aisle.
reply
Yes - this is my point.
Why the fuck are VERY VERY OLD people running the country!? ( I understand many staffers are young and we can debate on 'who' runs 'what' as staffers are pulling much of the weight.. )
Most people in their 40s and 50s can't even understand modern tech, let along a 90 year old! That really matters...
reply
The voices of the very old should still be heard though. They have a perspective we will never have and grew up in a very different world to today's youth.
Should they be running things? Probably not. Should they have a say to some extent in government? I'd say yes.
Obviously they are heavily over-represented at the moment while other age ranges have barely any representation (where are the 20yo senators!)
reply
It's not just age. Most people will accept an old politician if they are still capable. But by the last few years Dianne Feinstein has been downright incapacitated... not remembering where she was or what she was doing, having to have staffers remind her how to vote, even in her personal life she ceded power of attorney to her daughter. So she knows she wasn't well enough to handle her personal affairs, yet she isn't willing to step down from power and wants to keep handling the affairs of the country?
reply
Actually the "voices" of no one should be heard and none should be subject to the tyranny of "being governed".
The voices of voluntary customers being listened to tends to lead to successful enterprises.
reply
Exactly my thought! She was born before the Golden Gate Bridge was built in San Francisco and when segregation was still legal in the US. I can't believe we have these dinosaurs running our country today

A civil servant worth $87million. There's her obituary
reply
The hypocrisy in this statement. Blows my mind civil servants amass so much wealth.
May she rest in peace.
reply
It's amazing to me that anyone in government can keep a straight face while saying civil servant.

I mean, at least we can all agree that she should have stepped aside years ago?
Her and nearly all the other 80+ year olds in high office.
This doesn't mean WE have a problem with our thinking. Most people are clueless or idiots. I think the TAM of bitcoin will remain with those who are willing to do their own research and think for themselves - not because of what seem to be insensitive comments.
We don't always have to respect the dead...

if you take a stroll thru bitcoin twitter, you'll read far worse, even by well known bitcoiners. it adds social friction, and when it comes to payment networks, only fools celebrate that. and because someone is younger doesn't mean they'd do a better job, and it's weird, because as a Cali Senator, none of the people indirectly celebrating her death would've liked her replacement any better regardless of age. it gets even stranger because if trump is elected he'll be older than biden was in 2020. using her death to "teach values" is counterproductive. just recognize the humanity. have some decency

Nah. Bad take bro.
Dianne was the slavemaster's slavemaster. A master thief with some of the most impressive stats on record for oppression. She was the mayor of SF and look how well that turned out.
I'm not cackling with glee here that she'll likely burn in hell for all eternity, but it truly feels like a great weight has been lifted when she departed. We're all FAR better off with her out of that seat.
Anyway, if you wish a person like this to rest in peace, what do those words mean when you say them to departing friends & family?
reply
u know back in high school how u could tell which girls watched Friends? same thing here with u; slaves, frisco, hell, burning, lifting of the great weight 🙄. we must've picked u up during the 2020 run. most of u can't think independently and think this is what impresses twitter personalities.

Lol, not even close.
I was an anarchist years before bitcoin was released, Bitcointalk class of 2011. I ran the first Bitcoin Merchant directory in 2014. (Search my username)
Your keywords appear to be those chosen by someone that doesn't approve of anarchy. You'll find that all the oldest bitcoiners are anarchists. Cypherpunkdom is the cradle in which bitcoin was nurtured.

Really no different than any politician you throw a dart at. I'd suggest having class and respecting the deceased. R.I.P. Madam Senator.

Oh come on now, she was the mayor of San Francisco that is most to blame for democrat policies there. Go spend a week in SF and see how that turned out.
And $87m is quite a lot of thievery. A true pro at robbing the taxpayer blind.

I live here in SF coinosphere. SF is about the same population as Austin. Using 2022 data, SF has significantly fewer homicides (56 compared to 71). Rapes and violent crimes are lower as well. The smaller landmass of SF (it's a very small city about 7 miles across at its widest points) makes everything seem closer. Feinstein was SF mayor in the 80s... Not sure how her policies back then translate to the immediate 2023 environment? My issues with the city (which are few) have nothing to do with the twitter talking points people like sharing.
reply
It takes a long time to screw up a city that badly. Changing all those zoning laws to forbid building more affordable housing, for instance, is squarely in her court from what I've heard.
reply
Affordable housing lol you donkey. As if affordable housing was ever possible this close to Silicon Valley without subsidized vouchers. Maybe they'll build some "affordable" boat slips in Marina Del Rey next. I need a place to put my canoe.
reply
Um, you do realize that the only reason rents are so high there is because the mayor of SF has kept the # of floors in most buildings down to a few, right? SF has almost no high-rises!
And don't give me the speech about earthquakes, because the business district DOES allow high rises. It's like they aren't even trying to hide their tyranny.
reply
Keep pretending like you care. I liked the "!" as well - nice emotive touch. 40% of high-rises are empty, but yeah, let's get that zoning fixed right away. Do you do this annoying moral high-ground thing with friends and family, or is it just for social media strangers?

Well said friend. If ever there was a personification of the corrupting evil of fiat and the parasitic political class it feeds, Feinstein was it. They're all the same and subject to the same moral hazard the system creates.

I'm in favor of raising the minimum age to 100. I'd rather have comatose centenarian politicians on life support running the federal government than more capable younger psychopaths who will be in office for 40 years.
