Happy Monday stackers!
It's spooky season!
So let's have a little fun with spooky themed tracks today.
The song I'm going with was originally released by Donovan in 1966 but the version I think is a touch more spooky is Dr Jon and The Blues Brothers. It's The Season of the Witch so let's hit it with
So what's new scooby doo? Do you have a fear of the dark? Or have you fallen for a witchy woman?
Let's have some fun this week as usual. Looking forward to hearing your suggestions!

Waking The Witch - Kate Bush

Haha great suggestion, claim to fame, she lived/lives down the road from me.

Does she live in an old castle? I always imagined she lived in a castle

Sorry to disappoint you. Beautiful country house nonetheless, but not what would be called a castle. Did have a moat though... technically. It was on a bit of an island between a canal and a small river. I think I remember driving passed it and seeing a for sale post outside the gates... so maybe she's moved. But also maybe not. Sometimes people begin a sale process and then delist just to have people think they moved once everyone knows they're there.

Nice, I'm hearing a lot of Joy Division. And his voice kinda reminds me of the guy from simple minds. Love that bassline, super catchy, and that bass drum just doesn't stop, constantly going. Like it, cool suggestion, thanks πŸ‘

These guys set the precedent for gothic rock…this whole album blows my mind consistently

I will be checking that out, I'll chuck it on in the background.

Michael Jackson - Thriller

It's gotta be right? You can't have spooky season without it.

It's cliche but I have to go with the Monster Mash. My son loved that song when he was young. We had so much fun singing it and making up our own silly verse.
reply
Ofcourse. When it's spooky season it's an obligatory add to the playlist.

Doesn't get more spooky than "Spooky"

Super spooky. Nice one!

Ooooo those were different. Good different. I liked them different. Antidotes intro immediately threw me back to diablo 2 that slow picked chord just gave me the rogue encampment flashbacks and I heard the words "stay a while and listen" just roll through my head.

That game was brilliant, I used to love playing necromancer, with that crazy skeleton army. But barbarian is always my calling, I love a good hack and slash class. The tankier the better.

Climbing up the walls - Radiohead (just really creepy). The End - The Doors (played to death imho but take the time to listen to the words and they are still very dark. Actually prefer it to Riders On The Storm another dark track.)
reply
Nice. Yeah the doors were very good at surprisingly dark lyrics. I always liked riders on the storm. And people are strange. The do a good job at incorporating weird/creepy/dark themes into their tracks without being too obvious about it.

I think Jim Morrison was a very tortured soul. Robby Krieger, the guitarist, leaned into that and Light My Fire was the result (apparently.)
reply
Definitely catch that. Oftentimes pain makes great music.

Nothing More - Salem

I got The Used vibes outta this. Reminded me of "the bird and the worm" specifically. (
) enjoyed it, never come across the band before, I'll the album a go (the few not fleeting).
reply
Not really familiar with The Used but I can definitely hear the similarity
reply
I really enjoy their albums a lot
reply
Yeah, Ive enjoyed what I've heard so far. Couldn't tell you the track names as I've just banged the album on in the background.
