News flash. Everything that we do to extract and produce energy is BAD and destructive. There is no technology that is better over the other or does not cause significant damage and pollution to the environment. The best we can do is slow down carbon emissions but that will not stop unbreakable realities in the laws of the physical universe we find ourselves in.
Our time as a species is finite, is this how you choose to spend yours?

Rivians don't use cobalt battery tech. Plus any issues with the cobalt mining industry shouldn't preclude the ban or cease of mining. It seems like this is a political and human rights issue where some regulations and safety laws need to be enforced. Child labor is stomach churning so this is a HUGE issue and thanks for reminding us. Personally I will try to avoid any cobalt produced good from now on until the mining industry improves how it treats people.

Things aren't black and white here. One isn't 'bad' and one isn't 'good'. Let's zoom out and evaluate the postives and negatives of both the traditional combustion engine and the new EV batteries. I call for people to stop being so polarizing about everything.

I know that, im a chemist. When you realize you are using the same fossil fuel to produce batteries, then you will understand the problem. Because escavators are not electric, you end up doubling or trippling the output..
