Trying to learn as much as I can. I'll update my bio to reflect my current thinking.
I am a big proponent of digital self-sovereignty. I am a wholecoiner but not a maxi -- I keep an open mind and follow news on ETH, SOL and other L1s.
I am trying to understand how Stacker News works. Does it open a new custodial Lightning Wallet for every user that creates an account? It has to be custodial because otherwise every single post/zap would require a 2-of-2 signature by both the user and SN. But that means it controls everybody's balances, correct? That means that SN could revoke everyone's balances in their SN accounts. Is this a correct understanding?
I've only just started to learn about nostr; I'm very excited about the possibilities, and I think the NIPs only scratch the surface.
I'm worried that if nostr gets large enough, that governments will start quashing relays and relays will be forced to become permissioned, or be forced to exercise moderation. I know it was an explicit design goal of nostr that it doesn't require a blockchain, but given that relays don't talk to each other and store history locally, it's relatively easy for relays to be shut down and the data lost. Some sort of decentralised, persistent, shared state between relays might make sense here? Would welcome any comments or thoughts.

LOL... in other words a shitcoiner, right. You saw your shitcoins going to trash and now you come to the light.

No, that's an inaccurate depiction of my motivations or my views. I'm a technologist by nature and by training and I think of these other L1s as having a fundamentally different purpose from BTC. BTC is the preeminent store of value but ETH, SOL etc. are a "store of state": a way to have global shared uncensorable state. That's valuable in and of itself (censorship resistant state, decentralised value provision), independent of whatever the price of the altcoin is. You'd hold these altcoins not as a store of value, but as a utility token to pay to perform transactions on-chain.
The vast majority of people are interested in shitcoins because "number go up", but that hasn't really been my motivation; in any case I have owned BTC for almost a decade now :)

Don't worry about darthcoins garbage posts. I'm sorry to say that while this community is very open to most discussion, if you mention that you use other coins than bitcoin you will be called less than human, and worse.
Pay them no mind. They're just fools reveling in the burning of witches. You're fine being multicoin. I am as well, it is impossible for me not to be because I work with cryptocurrency. I'm subscribing to you so I can keep an eye on if these silly maximalists start with their nazi "root out the non-believer" speeches, I'll be there.
You are very welcome on this site :)
