I'm a public high school teacher who's been teaching Bitcoin and financial literacy in my classroom for 6 years. I've met a handful of other local teachers who are doing the same. I have also been presenting to peers/teachers, businesses and now after school kids classes. This is us: www.evoseducation.org
We've build doors to open where they didn't even exist. We've presented to over 500 teachers across 7 school districts. The courses I teach are Economics and Computer Science. (Yes, these are elective courses).
Hinderances to online learning: Anyone with an internet connection can hop online and be an "educator". Which is how the whole crypto boom and NFT hype wrecked and turned SO many people away from anything related to Bitcoin or crypto. So many scams. So much BAD information. Not enough people held to account for poor/bad/scammy 'teachings'. It's a thick, dense jungle full of jackals and nefarious characters. Real people got wrecked and hurt and are tainted with anything to do with digital finance. This is direct feedback I've received.
Positives of online 'education'/sharing: On the other hand, anyone can hop on the net and learn any and everything about Bitcoin theory, math, use, mining etc. Like a lot of us have. There are lots of resources and communities!
But choosing which curation of learning is the difficult part. Bitcoin and financial literacy isn't a one-and-done. It's a slow burn with layers and many considerations. Bitcoin without financial literacy is not the whole picture. There are vectors and scales of risks. I have not found just ONE source of learning - but many. And on a deeper level there are lots of "Bitcoin adjacent" learnings that help foster Bitcoin learning in its self. (deep right?)
For the new person starting out, there is little gentle and open encouragement and practice - but a LOT of OrAnGe PiLliNg! Even a lot of the leaders in the space aren't welcoming and open. All those conference, but little outreach.
To bring this to the masses, anyone leading or teaching should be open, considerate, objective and helpful in fostering community and learning - opposed to working an angle, regurgitating material for views or espousing 'hot takes'.
So many people are already skeptical and uncomfortable with money as it is.

Another big hurdle many of us face is time. Most of us do not have the means to leave our jobs and work on Bitcoin education full time. We've set our ambitions high but ultimately need to leave our classroom jobs to do this 100% - even for a year.

How do you overcome disapproval from school administrators who might frown upon your Bitcoin curriculum because surely it’s not in the nationally mandated syllabus?

The educational materials available are quite good. The penetration of this education into the minds of people is quite bad. I blame the lumping of bitcoin with other cryptocurrencies during the hype years of 2020-2021. But rest assured, the truth has a way of revealing itself, even if it happens slowly.

Fair to poor. There's a lot of good documentation, and you can put things together, but not only are they buried, they are dwarfed by misinformation like the idea that muun is a lightning wallet or that hosting a lightning node in the cloud is self-custodial.

In my opinion, education about bitcoin is very poor. Many people treat it as an investment on which they can make a quick buck. However, few people delve into the workings of bitcoin and how to store it properly. There are also many other levels on which to educate themselves.

He's referring to education material (like I understood too from your question). You are referring to people's education... Are not the same thing.

I didn't put it at very poor, because the resources DO exist, and I didn't put it at poor because there are people who are going around sharing those links around, its just we can only be effective in small groups where shitcoining is discouraged.

Excellent - Bitcoin's mission is huge. In a normal world ten years would zap past just to formulate the paper and drive some consensus around it. Given that - the progress of #btc is super amazing. The network is in place . There are hundreds of copy cats and despite that it commands half a trillion in market cap. No corporation has ever done this in such short span of time.

In Spain, people only knows bitcoin for trading mostly and there is a scam feeling about Blockchain in general population. There is an urgent need for education about what really this technology is.

Good for a niche that have already come in with a hard money mindset understanding from other assets or Austrian economics, I just think the bridge to get there is way to far for the average person
I was recently approached by a high school teacher who runs an investment club for the kids at his school and I tried to do my best to explain it and why not shitcoins, but all they could see is fiat returns, and you can literally see its the only thing that lights up the brain anything else, censorship resistance, hard cap, decentralisation, is just lost on people

99% of bitcoiners only know 75% of the 4 functions of money.
80% of bitcoiners think that bitcoin is "made out of energy"
90% of bitcoiners listen to various influencers and memes
99% of bitcoiners do not understand that bitcoin fixes everything

Sadly it's not effective. There are plenty of good resources but it's not getting widespread as it should be...
If someone tries to offer ponzi schemes using the Bitcoin as the way to get rich, a lot of people will join.
If you try to teach correctly, few come into... Or at least slow paced, but don't get new wrong, there are more and more people awaking to the revolution.
It's not a Bitcoin problem (I think) it's a human issue...

There needs to be material for people to take them on a journey from complete noob to be able to confidently conduct a Bitcon transaction and knowing/understanding the value of bitcoin itself.

For the tools we have right now it's good you can definitely find what your looking for whether it's setting up a hardware wallet hot wallet or even running a miner it will get better and easier with time
