bitcoin is an open and free distributed ledger. its literally what you want. the only problem as far as i can see is the volatility, and that is partly due to the limited amount of coins but also because of the irresponsibility of central banks. "everyone now gets $1,000 dollars, go crazy" "borrowing money is FREE, go crazy" and everything starts going up. And then all of a sudden "nope, you dont get another $1,000 right now, and also we are going to raise the price on borrowing money. fu" and then everything start to crash

As an African myself I am not sold on it yet, education of bitcoin and use, non-custodial access and then the will to use these tools to push back are a long way off. Am I glad we have bitcoin, absolutely, but Africa has far more problems than just using a subpar money, even if we rip out the root, the damage that needs to be repaired is massive, not only from external forces but self-inflicted wounds such as corruption
