This is a treasure trove.  Flipping through randomly, came across [this issue](https://wholeearth.info/p/whole-earth-review-january-1985?format=grid&index=0) from 1985.    From an article by Stewart Brand, _Biting the Hand that Feeds_ I found this excerpt:
