I've been wondering what the best learning curve is for someone like a waiter who accepted bitcoin as a tip. I doubt that this in itself will send them down the rabbit hole. So what do they need to know? In what order? This person is probably not going to wonder why inflation is theft, or what Austrian economics is.
The tip was probably in the form of a lightning payment, accepted through Wallet of Satoshi or Muun. Simply because in my mind, those two are the simplest to get someone to quickly accept bitcoin.
Here are some suggested learning points I think one would recommend for them:
  • What is Bitcoin
  • How can you spend it / should you spend it now
  • Difference between lighting and on-chain
  • What is a bitcoin wallet
  • How to back up your wallet
  • Difference between custodial and non-custodial
Any thoughts on this topic?
I currently use https://tipcards.io/ for convinience.
It does a good job of teaching people how to use WOS, and works great.
It's not so good for the other stuff you mentioned,
I forked the project, a while back to address some of these concerns, but I got busy.
The more I think about it, we could attach a QR code that links to a nostree.me instance that provides this information.
Another option(I haven't tried yet) is to leave a Mutiny Wallet Gift, but I think the minimum is 50k sats. I like the self-custodial aspect, but it's not the best UX for someone who is not all interested in bitcoin to begn with. I might leave one of these on a car by my house that has a shibu inu bumper sticker though, just to show him there's a better option than some BS eth token that makes absolutely no sense. 😂
