My suspicion is that he is trying to position Ethereum as the 'Web 3.0' version of Bitcoin, or however you want to term exactly what Ethereum is, and to do so he is trying to channel Bitcoin maximalism for Ethereum. There isn't really any other logical reason for him to even acknowledge Bitcoin maximalism, let alone write an article about it.
