Kind of bummer they can't say what practical difference this makes for sensation. I would assume more nerves means more and finer sensation. As a hairy person, I'm quite sensitive to my hair moving subtly but it sounds like that was already accounted for in their existing sensation models.
yeah in vitro studies are so limited, i'd be curious to know more about how this interacts with our neurological systems. the full study publication is here if you wanted to follow up more:
