i use linux since 1990s ubuntu was my first linux distro. it crashed often but much less than the blue screen of death of windows95 and windows2000.
meanwhile both linux and windows are stable. you can choose between hundreds of good linux distros. i like fedora. it always features the latest tech.
windows is good too, easy to use, everything works perfectly. the only (major) issue i see is tracking and tracing, selling your data to evil people. there are also strong rumors that windows will replace all permanent licenses with yearly or even monthly license fees. windows forces you to upgrade which they say it is for your security but as you know is mostly done to do more sophisticated spying on you.
for those reasons i do not use any windows system as a daily driver where my personal data and my personally used software is located. therefore i use linux or unix. no data is on any phone.
i had windows only installed on an entertainment system connected to a large 4k tv. i got annoyed about the almost daily 'upgrades' with mandatory restart and deleted windows from my entertainment computer. i installed fedora. everything works out of the box, i just had to fix the video thumbs. fedora gnome is much nicer to use as an entertainment system. it is connected to a wireless keyboard and unlike windows it can do natural scrolling for example. of course there is no junk as with windows. on the entertainment system i also have the greatest amateur trading system installed which is called thinkorswim. it can do the same as a professional trading system (with the exception of speed of order routing, information flow etc). it works fine for long term trading and for tracking the markets. even bitcoin can be tracked, but they stop tracking it for the weekend which is ridiculous..
therefore i tried to install thinkorswim on fedora, the entertainment system. i learned that thinkorswim was sold to schwab and they have changed the installation procedure. before that you could just use openjava 11 and it woked fine. now you have to install a special java from a company called zulu. on fedora it did not even install. many users complain that it does not work any more. i even installed ubuntu in order to find out what the problem was. ubuntu has a different software compiler than fedora(deb vs rpm).also on ubuntu it did not work. i tried multiple things but i could not get it to work on any linux distro. before it was changed to 'zulu' it could be installed on any system within 5 minutes. i did it on multiple systems for more than 20 years.
this is one example of proprietary software which does not run on linux or does not run well.
as a consequence i had to reinstall windows on my entertainment system. now all software runs again flawlessly, i have to tolerate the annoying 'upgrades and restarts' but i am not worried about windows stealing my data.
I get it, the only Windows box in my house is the work computer. Need to get rid of it.
