Stackers who give a welcome message and sats to new bios are really vital in greasing the wheels to encouraging newly registered stackers to be part of the community; but sometimes, it feels we never hear from them again.
This can be especially frustrating after reading interesting Bitcoiner bios who we'd be interested in hearing more from - I've seen this and wondered if they're just reading, zapping and not posting? Perhaps the reason is that they just changed their nym, might be busy, forgot or felt that SN wasn't for them...
This Black Box of mystery could be unlocked by reaching out.
After reading a bio that's piqued my interest, I might have given them sats or a short message, and not heard about them again I wonder if somehow reaching out might help.
Why even think about looking into this Black Box?
SN is doing really successfully - I'm guessing there's no real need to seek out new users - or to chase up non-starters to ask what they thought of SN. After all, SN has 18,000+ users and there's no sign of slowing down.
There is always the possibility that we're missing something though - they might have run out of sats, maybe they got the wrong impression or had a bad experience. I guess unless we ask, we'll never know.
We could give the counter argument that asking for feedback might be counterproductive - giving the wrong impression of desperation or lack of direction.
How would feedback be gained from disengaged users if they don't sign in anyway?
This could be done quite simply, if users signed in using their lightning wallet, a handful of sats and a message could be sent to their wallet to open a possible dialogue - maybe even offering more sats if they respond.
This might also be opened up to random engaged stackers - asking for anonymous feedback from them too.
This just came up in my mind - this might be a ludicrous idea, or a way to unseal a black box of useful data.
What does the community, especially @k00b and the other devs, think?
