Here's my answer: This isn't a common topic in the Bitcoin community. It's a fundamental issue that could be discussed more. But people who know about this topic know that hundreds of developers contribute to Bitcoin Core. One of the maintainers' jobs, who have the GitHub keys, is to update Bitcoin Core with proposed changes. I think this topic isn't debated more because miners and full node operators only update Bitcoin Core if they want to. So, if the maintainers make a shit, the miners and full node operators have the final say.
