pull down to refresh

First of all, I want to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone for the warm welcome on my first post yesterday! Y'all are so engaging and helpful, I can't wait to continue learning the ropes as I become a more regular contributor in this awesome community.
Now for my question of the day:
How can someone with a decent-sized audience on other social media platforms help progress the Stacker News vision best?
I assume general recruitment/bringing new users over here is the name of the game at this stage, but are there any other priorities to keep in mind as SN continues to develop its roadmap for the future?
Just wanted to quickly touch base with the community first before I start blasting links all over the place. 🤘⚡️
I think the best way is to be authentic. If everyone believes that this community brings some value, then they should promote the community to people who can bring value too. There is no better advertising than word-of-mouth advertising.

100%. Maximization of #Value4Value at top of mind always 🫂

def make sure you’re using your referral link when blasting links out on social, easiest way to get rewarded for onboarding new folks.
aside from that, it seems to me like most referral activity comes from sharing compelling stories/discussions rather than sharing links to the SN homepage.
you’re right though, it is still early and it’s likely that SN still hasn’t figured out the best way to onboard new stackers, so experimentation is encouraged.
if you do find any interesting onboarding strategies, sharing them here would make for a great post too!

Couple of questions on that:
  1. I got a referral this morning (see screenshot), but it's still showing "0" my referral page. Does it just take a little while to register in the system?
  1. I noticed that when I send the standard referral link (https://stacker.news/r/benwehrman) it gives the user a "👋 Welcome to Stacker News!" banner at the top, but when I add the referral suffix on a link to my profile (https://stacker.news/benwehrman/r/benwehrman), that banner does not appear.
Does that mean the referral link isn't applying properly if I link people to my profile? Or is it just a bug that the banner doesn't appear when you link them to your profile page?

paging @k00b and @ekzyis, these could be bugs

@kr the same thing is happening to me, got two referrals so far after tweeting about it and the referrals aren't showing up on the referral page.
does it just take time to refresh?

Mhh, not sure, that might be a bug or we indeed don't refresh the chart (probably once per day?) as often. Will check and tell you more then

The banner only appears on the front page iirc. But it's definitely unrelated to referrals :)
It also only appears once. If you close it, we save in your browser local storage that you've seen it. So don't wonder if it shows up for someone new on SN :)

This a bug following my deployment yesterday. It's a UTC offset problem. I'll try to fix this today.
Those referrals should show up in 6 hours though

Tell them about SN Tell them about the free Sats Win
Yesterday I promoted stacker.news for the first time on nostr

I think starting with contributing regularly, maybe even some platform exclusive content, and then amplifying via your network, encourage users with either sats or getting your feedback on topics to do it on SN instead of other platforms.

stackers have outlawed this. turn on wild west mode in your /settings to see outlawed content.
