It is harder to fool the end-user when everyone can see the code.
I'm not worried about the centralization of Bitcoin right now, but I might be in the future :). The most important thing is to keep moving towards maximum decentralization, if that's possible. I don't know if this is the US saying, but the saying here is 'The road is made by walking'
