2023 has been an enlightening year for me.
I got to understand better Bitcoiners’ psyche. Most typical “investors” buy Bitcoin, hoping that it will soar to $69k and beyond. They look at the Fear and Greed index and strategise about how to increase their stash of sats. Bitcoin is seen as a heavyweight item that will anchor their portfolio and bring them financial freedom.
So, I have been bemused at just how chill Stackers seem to behave. You guys say stuff like 1 BTC = 1 BTC and frown upon others who obsess about its price action. Upon spending more time here, it seems that you have broken free of the fiat mindset. I found out about Bitwage and LNbits Nostr store and non-KYC exchanges, which help you receive your remuneration, settle your bills and save in cold storage - all in Bitcoin. You have carved out a life you are proud of.
The other day, I just finished reading “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind”. The bulk of the book written by T. Harv Eker comprises explanations of how differently the rich think from the poor. I think some of the generalisations made about rich people can be said to be true of Bitcoiners. That you adopt a solution-oriented approach and clear all the hurdles that lie in your path instead of being chained to fiat. That you embrace obstacles and reframe them as opportunities to orange-pill the no-coiners. That you are willing to promote yourself and Bitcoin’s value.
However, if we look beyond these similarities, would you say that the one core quality Bitcoiners value is freedom? The obstruction-free way of living their lives? Do you think Bitcoiners are “committed to being rich”? (which is the core value this book brings out)
You don't need to value freedom to value bitcoin, it's enough if you don't want to get fucked by the fiat money system. Once people truly understand fiat money they start to think about how to get out.

Putting in small steps in place so that I can get out one day!

i'd say the core quality bitcoiners value is "security", specifically on the personal level. there is the 15+ year history of the network that underscores security on the collective level, but to me it seems very much like a paradigm shift towards how each individual can perceive and interact with the concept of "money". there will always be those striving to reach and maintain that "rich" status, but that tunnel vision approach is very short sighted from my perspective, and detrimental to the larger shift in our society that is possible.
"embrace obstacles and reframe them as opportunities" = great quote! speaks volumes.

I think paradigm shift says it all. Now that I want to live the Bitcoin standard, I really see the world differently
