Spotify pays artists between $0.003 and $0.005 per stream. With an average song length of 3:30, that comes out to $0.00114 per minute. No conventional payment methods can send less than a penny to someone per minute while listening. Not only can lightning achieve this, but you can get the funds directly to the artists. Really hoping more independent artists give this a shot. I made a playlist of 20 really solid songs from artists who are giving this payment model a try, as well as this tutorial to help some friends try it out.
