…you just want people to agree with you.
Eh, "you" is the wrong word. I would agree most people don't care much about free speech, rather they just care about their own speech.
That being said I personally find a lot of value in people disagreeing with me. I know I don't know everything and the person disagreeing either knows something I don't, or doesn't know something I do (although sometimes it comes down to each of us valuing things differently.)
Other that that, yeah people just like the sound of their own voice. People like to form tribes around ideas.

You said “you” was the wrong word in your first paragraph. Made it about you in the second then agreed with me in the third 😀

So think about it.
The reason I "made it about myself" is because you used the word "you" in the title which is the thing that I was against.
The implications of using "you" is that you believe your statement is true of the reader audience which would happen to include me.
So then, if you still would like to justify the use of "you" then explain who you are trying to generalize? I agreed that the statement applies to people in general, but with the use of the word "you" I have no idea I guess who you're trying to generalize. Me? Stacker news? Twitter? Some random people who got kicked off of twitter? Literally only specificallly people the statement applies to and not people of whom the statement doesn't apply to because that's a fun way to string together useful information.

You are wrong... but you are free to be wrong.
