If the agreement is reached, it could allow the world's largest cryptocurrency platform to continue operating, according to sources familiar with the case (Bloomberg).
The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) is seeking to reach a settlement with Binance, a cryptocurrency exchange, in which the exchange would pay $4 billion.
Once reached, the settlement could allow Binance to continue operating as the world's largest cryptocurrency platform, avoiding the collapse of an entity that poses a systemic risk to the crypto market, according to sources familiar with the case, cited by Bloomberg.
The negotiations between the DOJ and Binance also include the possibility that Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) could be charged by the DOJ. Zhao currently resides in the United Arab Emirates.
