The Raiders, Steelers, Seahawks, and Chiefs were all right there, but a bunch of almosts isn't worth much.
I realized that the early odds at freebitcoin are better than fair, so it's the rare person who can lose as consistently as me. In light of that, I'm going to try out a hedging strategy this week. I'm going to apportion my bets according to the Vegas odds. Had I done that last week, I would have come out ahead, so fingers crossed.
I have a really good feeling about the Raiders odds against the Chiefs, btw. My god, the Chiefs receivers are awful.
We need to keep the pressure on @ekzyis, to get his predictions market site up and running. It's ridiculous that we have to use the site linked above. Not to mention, it only offers about half of the NFL games each week and nothing for the other major American sports.
Is there a way to see a summary of placed bets and bet outcomes on the site?
reply
As far as I know, no. I go through them in "my expired bets".

Almost doesn't count

Not as far as my wallet is concerned, but it can be worth taking into account when evaluating my process. For instance, the Raiders were right in that game and I had them at about 7:1 odds, so I still think that was the right pick.

I didn't try freebitcoin because the site looks like a scam, lol
Also, I don't like e-mail auth. But maybe I'll just use addy.io. I need UI/UX inspiration - but not sure if I can get that from that site.

TODO for today: Setup a signet LND node for production usage. So far, I have only been running it locally during development. Also, need to find a way how people can pay their own signet invoices.
Previously, I had the idea to run a bot so you can just post your invoice in a reply to a post and the bot will autopay any signet invoice from my node.
Maybe I'll do that, but then the testing will be SN exclusive, lol. But maybe that's not a bad thing / a good thing :)
Also, then I can finally explain to @Natalia how to create such a bot, haha

There are a lot of examples of things to be avoided on that site.
The interesting thing about it is the actual wagering system. It's a betting pool, so the odds are only approximate until the pool closes. That allows the house to guarantee a profit on each bet, by taking a cut from the pool prior to payout. It also gets around needing to set odds.
You don't have either of those problems, either, but it's an interesting model.

The odds are all over the place this early on, but for now here's who my wallet is pulling for:
  • Lions
  • 49ers
  • Dolphins
  • Jags
  • Saints
  • Broncos (Yuk. I'd rather lose the sats)
  • Eagles (Yuk, but I'd rather get the sats)
  • Chiefs (Absolutely not rooting for them. I'll celebrate losing those sats)
