Sometimes you need a bit of distance and there's often a lot of truth in a good story.
If you haven't read it, try The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. I saw it recommended on Reddit and IMO it was a very good read.

I like for example books by: Robin Hobbs or if you want something more heavy and sci fi - try Liu Cixin
