TLDR Toggle a setting to prevent your data from being sent to the cloud.

(Authy does actually work without Google Play Services installed BTW - I run my Android fully degoogled. - I had to install Authy as Aegis could do everything I wanted except requests!)

Lopp actually recommends Yubikey though - certainly don't authenticate via SMS unless you really have to due to the threat of SIM swaps.
