I can see several useful technologies in this project, but I think they are not being used in ways that are appropriate to Nostr.
Nostr is supposed to consist of thick/smart clients and thin/dumb relays, which act as rendesvous points on the internet. HORNETS would make clients thinner and relays much thicker by having them act as sophisticated file servers, which is a can-of-worms (because of things like CP).
That being said, I could imagine some interesting client-side use-cases for the Scionic Merkle DAGs and the other tech.
But even if GitNestr were perfect, there is one critical aspect of Github that I haven't seen addressed: search. An important reason that Github is good is due to the fact that you can search Github and there's a good chance you'll find the repo you're looking for. GitNestr does not appear to have any support for searching for repos. Maybe it will, but I haven't seen anything in the HORNETS project that addresses searching for repos across HORNETS-compatible relays.
