Could you elaborate on why you believe it to be a waste of time? I'm asking because I am genuinely curious. I was only made aware of this project recently & would like to know more about it or the likes of damus.io that you pointed out.
Because no one will let to use twitter to use this, that is the same of twitter but with a worst client. Twitter already allows to tip other users with bitcoin lightning. I think the tweetoshi dev should implement a different protocol, look at: https://github.com/fiatjaf/nostr

Seems like at the moment someone would have to be technically inclined in order to use nostr till it's more user friendly. I love the concept and have been following fiatjaf on different platfroms.
While I agree that you can tip people currently using ₿, you can't use the LightningNetwork for tips on Twitter unless you use Stripe, for those outside of Northern America this needs to be a static Legacy Wallet address to receive tips.
I hope that a solution is found or that nostr becomes something the average user can & will use moving forward though.

minds.com is already implementing Nostr. And looks like Damus.io will be a great client when released.

Took a further look into it & it seems minds.com is using their own Native token built on Ethereum (hard pass for me since I'm Bitcoin only).
I've used Tweetoshi now for more than 5 hours & besides the bugs they are working on I don't see how this project isn't a step in the right direction with regards to properly integrating Bitcoin on Twitter.
You don't have a minimum withdrawal limit of sats, it can be sent to any Lightning Wallet with no fee it seems & you can tip people for their specific tweets directly on your TL instead of having to go to their profile.
Looks like a great start, but will keep an eye on it to see if the planned bug fixes & additions they speak of on their website are implemented.
