Heroes of Might and Magic III deserves one of the first posts in the SN retrogaming territory. That is all.
Indeed! 😀

This game is nostalgic for me. I used to visit my dad every other weekend. He had a tough life and was struggling with some addiction issues so he didn’t have much. But he had Might and Magic.
I have great memories of playing that game with him. We would take turns watching each other play on his windows 98 pc. Searching for treasure and loot was so rewarding to me. I remember I used to love the graphics of the items you’d find from killing monsters or finding a false wall in a dungeon with a treasure chest in it. Great game great times.

This game was/is awesome. A true classic.
For those that would still like to play it (single player and multiplayer) you should look at VCMI project, it is a open source engine for the game, with many improvements and extensions.
The game is still alive.

Good reminder that I need finally to check out VCMI. Usually I play Windows version with Wine under Linux (that way it's more stable than that old ported native Linux version).

This game is still alive and even played competitively. It's possible thanks to "Horn of the Abyss" non official expansion pack that re-balances game heavily and even adds online lobby.

Personally my fav game franchise of all time! I still play might & magic: heroes VII to this day! Played last weekend!

Personally, a big fan of IV, because that's the first one I played, and III looked too dated for me at that point.
Every Heroes' fan should definitely give "Hero's Hour" a look though.
