I missed most of the game, but was able to catch the last 5 minutes of the 3rd and all of the 4th when I got home from work. A few thoughts...
AD had a monster game! 41-20-5 with 4 blocks. Kicking ass both on offense and defense.
LeBron being able to play at such a high level at this age is just crazy. But I wonder if he can keep it up and not burn out come playoff time.
The Pacers are a joy to watch. Fast paced and energetic. Haliburton got the double team treatment today and wasn't as effective as the previous games. Hield not shooting well certainly didn't help the Pacers. Coming off the bench, TJ McConnell was playing like a pitpull. His numbers don't show it, but he's playing meaningful minutes, hustling, attacking, and defending. That offensive rebound leading to a Haliburton 3. I think that steal from Reaves right after the inbound was McConnell too.
One thing I also noticed is that the Lakers did not try to run a fast offense or try compete with the Pacers using fast breaks. I think trying to out fast break the Pacers was how the Celtics lost their game. I guess experience matters. The Celtics, being less experienced than the Lakers roster, got influenced by the Pacers' fast game and tried the Celtics tried to beat them at their best game. The result was that the Celtics forced a lot of bad shots and created turn overs during their fast breaks. The Lakers did not make the same mistake and slowed it down when it was not a good fast break opportunity; then the Lakers would take their time to find flaws in the Pacers defense on their attack.
All in all, it was a fun game to watch, although it was not close towards the end, Pacers did come close a few times. An entertaining game showcasing an experienced and accomplished team versus a young and energetic team.
Lakers absolutely dictated the pace of the game and played the style of game they wanted. Pacers never seemed to consistently be able to run and play the fast paced game they wanted. Good strategy on the Lakers part.
