Mail authentication on Safari does indeed not work, but you shouldn't even be able to login like this.
Login with lightning should work though.
Do you have some privacy settings enabled in your browser? Such that cookies should get deleted when your session closes?

I’ve tried multiple login methods, but none of them logged me with the correct handle. Last time I tried it with lnurl / lightning
