For several months now, I've been contemplating the idea of establishing a consultancy and development firm specializing in Bitcoin and Lightning-related services. The primary objective would be to assist businesses and institutions in embracing Bitcoin, given the prevalent lack of practical knowledge on acquiring, managing Bitcoin, and potentially establishing their own nodes.
My main concern revolves around the bureaucratic and financial challenges associated with launching a company in Italy, my home country. Alternatively, I am considering operating as an independent consultant to provide services more flexibly.
On the positive side, the market is still relatively untapped in this regard, considering we are so early! What are your thoughts on this? Any advice from those who have embarked on a similar venture? Also what do you think of "stackzoo" as the company name?
It looks great! My suggestion is that before launching the company you have clients and forces to other companies and/or organizations, as well as with other professionals who speak other languages to expand the brand.
Best of luck in your adventure, I would really like to create something similar in Spain.

  1. Helping merchants to embrace Bitcoin? 100% props to you. This is much needed, everywhere.
  2. Why do you need to REGISTER a COMPANY? Just be yourself, a freelancer. I mean FREE.
  3. Logo ? Whatever you like, you know better your "vision".
Go ahead!

while i agree with the 2nd option the caveat is that generally you need some form of business entity or status for companies to pay you, just sending bitcoin to a dude that did some work for a company normally doesn't cut it
my advice would be make it easy for companies to work with you, and considering you are based in a country dying from bureaucracy you don't want to have more obstacles than needed.

Thank you for your support and for the valuable advices!

I love the idea, but I have a question about the company name: Why Zoo? Are we the wild animals? Is it fiat? Who is caged?
Zoo - an establishment which maintains a collection of wild animals, typically in a park or gardens, for study, conservation, or display to the public. a situation characterised by confusion and disorder: "it's a zoo in the lobby"

Good point! In my perspective, the term 'Zoo' in the name signifies the heterogeneity of the 'Stack' we will be addressing. I possess a strong technical background in software development, DevSecOps, and cloud-native infrastructure, among other areas. Therefore, the company's scope extends beyond providing high-level consultancy and enabling individuals/companies to access Bitcoin. We are also prepared to delve into specifics, if requested, such as guiding the implementation of infrastructure for running nodes, and more.

I've been thinking about starting up something similar here in the US. Could use someone with knowledge in this area. Let's keep in touch!

I like the name but you don't need the animals in the logo.
Wishing you much success.

Sounds great! All the best for you!

I like the logol

Awesome. Do it! It will pay off. I think that keeping things at a small scale and on the down-low is the way to go with Bitcoin. We have the tools to keep your business, your business.

Love the name. Logo feels a little messy (honestly just removing the Bitcoin logo would make it way better imo)
reply
I'd say that (if you haven't already) you need to make a bit of a name for yourself to develop trust and reliability. Also consulting needs to really perfect the language used. It needs to be succinct and professional.
Good luck!

I love the idea. Also I'm interested in hearing what other people have to say about the whole registering/not registering idea. Seems like any kind of registration would be a good thing to avoid, if at all possible.
I'm not excited by the name. It doesn't roll off the tongue, and the zoo concept doesn't resonate with me.

do a freelance .... no need for a company
plus consultency has no overheads (no product/service to buy, no employees ... just you and your time)

Great great idea. I like your thinking behind "stackzoo" that you shared with @SatsCats.
Best of luck to you ser :)

You have to gradually compensate your own business based on Bitcoin so you promote its use. You can start with 10% less if they pay with Bitcoin so that you get more customers who pay with Bitcoin.

I don’t think the word “zoo” or the animal pictures relate or translate very well into a Bitcoin advisory company.
Also, that logo is too messy.
This is purely off the top of my head but how about something like:
AdviBit Co
Slogan: the ABC of Bitcoin Business.
Or perhaps (just thought of this) BitBiz
It’s super late here and I’ve not been in marketing or branding for many years - feel free to discard

It is quite a fun logo and brand, It's worth considering if you want to mimic your competition in the fiat world as these logos will be familiar to your clients and can reduce the radical bitcoin uncomfortable aspect.. On the other hand you can embrace the different and get more attention that way!

Nice idea.
