I used Blender, it's not CAD but it works well.

The my friend's printer software supported OBJ and DAE that Blender can export directly.

If you're still learning and you don't mind non-CAD softwares I recommend to go for [Blender](https://www.blender.org/), if you want something simpler there's [Wings 3D](http://www.wings3d.com/).

If you need or want a CAD tool, a simpler software you can look at is [SketchUp](https://www.sketchup.com/), it's simple and fast to use, it should be similar to TinkerCAD but I never used it so I can't compare it.

3D modelling sure is fascinating, hope to see some pics of your work when you're done!

That’s an interesting mix, might need to search those items to see if there is anything I want/need. 

What CAD software do you design with? 

I started with TinkerCAD, started to research others but then life happens. But digital design is another major part of the space.

I don't have a 3D printer but a friend made key holders, toy gliders, cup holders, phone cases, action figures and so on...

He doesn't know about 3D modeling, so he asked me to make a branded pen holder for his boss as a present idea for their Christmas party to give to each coworker.
