If your blog post had a paywall, I probably wouldn't have read it.
Might you have earned more if there was a paywall on it and at least some readers did pay to read it? Perhaps.
But was maximizing your revenue your intent, or was communicating a message to the widest audience your intent. I suspect the latter. So putting a Lightning address or pay button on your blog would at least make it possible those of us who might be willing to flip some sats your way to do so.
Since, presuming this nym fiatjaf is the same person as the author of the blog (which I was able to confirm based on post history and the AMA post), I can upvote and tip you here on SN.

I've researched Paywall vs Features request (https://features.etleneum.com/hypecoinnews) and wrote a post about this experiment in Russian. Shortly speaking for public telegram channel Features are beneficial. They also allow to select more demanded topics while with paywall it is more like gambling -- hard to find most valuable topic to work on and the result may be easily mispriced.
Thus, from my personal experience direct/specific donations are much better than paywall.

Absolutely agree.
I would say one of the best business models for lightning is to have some content for free, and also offer premium content.
Kinda like going back to the shareware model, but in a more streamlined way.

Kind of hard to agree with this when you got religions that thrive on the donation model. Yes some religions might fundraise and all get tax relief but most of their revenues are through donations.
Just like we have rich and poor bitcoiners you will have those who dominate the donation v4v game like fiatjaf points in the video game steaming arena and those who aren’t. Those who are unsuccessful will stop and do something else. Those who gather a strong audience and thrive will continue on.
Adam curry does a really good job explaining the business model behind v4v. It’s a decent attempt to replace the broken ass ad model that creators rely on to generate revenue.
