About a month ago I was asking SN their thought on the best wallet for gifting BTC.
It needed to be custodial lightning so they could experience how easy it is to send and receive. Although there were some good options suggested, I decided to go with coinos.io.
Why?
Pretty much for the simplicity of it. All I did was generate a username and a strong password. I sent some sats and that was it. Perhaps the security setup is not so secure as it is browser based and just uses a password for entry. But I found that to be a higher priority than going through KYC with https://lightsats.com/
Wallet of Satoshi was another option, but I would have to have registered the wallet for it to have worked in gifting it this way.
So anyway, I wrote a letter saying it was from Santa and you can basically claim some sats by entering these details. I thought my work colleges might know me as "the bitcoin guy" as I have a BTC sticker on my desk and am often talking about it with anyone interested. Sadly, the receiver still hasn't claimed his sats and has never asked me or anyone else about it. He received the letter and must have either forgotten about it, or just gotten rid of it.
I know he hasn't claimed the sats as he was advised in the letter to change the password. I just couldn't help but to have a peek after about 3 weeks, and the original password remains the same.
It's not many sats so it doesn't matter too much. I think when we enter the bull market it might get him to have a look or start asking around for who gifted him the bitcoin. So I'll leave it as it is for now. However, if he hasn't changed the password in a few years, I'll just take them back.
My success rate of orange pilling remains extremely low....
Regardless, Happy Xmas SN!
